If your new rifle looks like the above link then you should keep it original. To answer your question, yes the newer stock and band should fit.
The only reason I asked is I intend to use it and wanted to keep the original stock in as good of condition as possible. Hope to swap it out and store the Sporter stock

Just won one at a local gun auction. The stock is more flaired that later models and has no barrel band. Was curious is the newer style stock w/ a barrel band will fit?
Congrats on your find! I bought a real early one at an on-site auction serial # in the 300 range. Lot of fun to shoot and the best in-the-woods deer rifle I own.
