1965 S&W Model 36 with Arhends Grips

This particular revolver was owned by my grandfather.
A 1965 S&W Model 36 (no dash).
When he passed, I inherited quite a slew of rifles and revolvers.
When I was showing them to my wife she wanted to try the snubby.
So I bought these Ahrends (cocobolo wood) tactical combat grips.
Yes, I still have the original grips.
I gotta say the grip makes a big difference.
It is still her favorite to take to the range.

The knife, watch and ammo all belonged to my Gramps.

Great grips! But those don't look like the right cartridges for a .38 Special. .38 S&W????

and you were right those were Western .38 S&W which are too large.
so to be accurate, I re-shot that photo with another old Remington .38 S&W SPL box.

Yeah, I felt pretty dumb when you pointed that out.
I guess I got swept away in the picture making process and thought "hey a nice yellow ammo box would work well with the gold watch." When I was setting it up, I did have that brief moment of recognizing the .38 S&W looked way to short compared to the Hornady's Critical Defense that I usually have loaded.

I have no use for that Western box of .38 S&W so I guess I should sell it to avoid further confusion.

Yeah I have to say I like that variation, especially with the contour of these grips. Most of what I have found said that this tweak was done in '66 ...which is close enough I guess.
Next on my list of snubbies is a M-60.

Very nice! I have come to really like Ahrends grips and now they are on three different guns I own. I do like adding a few coats of Tru-oil to them to give them a nice glow and luster but they have a very nice feel to them.
