Picked this up as part of a deal quite a while ago.... its just sat in the safe. I am not a collector, so don't have a space for it any longer. Five digit serial number 440xx which I believe puts it at 1956 production. It has been converted, but includes a sealed bag from Ruger with the original parts. I believe the gun to be all original otherwise....Note: I have been informed that the loading gate may be incorrect for this guns. I would call it very good to excellent condition. no box or stuff. Pics will follow by Thursday morning. $550 price adjusted for loading gate... shipped. Let me know if interested. Reduced to $495 shipped.... Found a new toy I think I "need"

Thanks for looking

Please understand that I was NOT being critical. Just pointing out something I noticed, as I looked at it to see if it's fit in my collection. And you had mentioned that it was all original. I wanted to point it out so you could not be caught mis-representing it. And yes, some guns were returned to Ruger & had the loading gate replaced with a round one. Sorry if I offended you.

No offense at all. I am not knowledgeable, and just looking for confirmation on your comment. If its true, I stand corrected. Still a nice gun. I appreciate the feedback. I never intentionally misrepresent anything I sell. Thanks

Yes! With that serial number it should have a Flatgate! It looks as if sometime in it's past, probably sometime in the 50s, someone replaced the flatgate with a Premier loading gate. It's hard to tell in the picture, but it looks like a Premier loading gate.

BTTT This is a nice gun, and if that is a premier loading gate it should be worth as much as a flat loading gate.

We need a picture of the gate closed and the gun laying on it's side and take a picture of the loading gate looking straight down at it. It's as if you are taking a picture of the cylinder, loading gate, trigger and hammer. We need a picture that shows the amount of space between the end of the loading gate, (the part that you use to put your thumb under to open it, and the back of the frame. One of your first pictures shows this but the camera is too close and too dark to judge the distance. Try to use a darker background then the white that you used. The camera exposes for the white background and that makes the gun too dark.

Here's a little help.

Yes! Contender is right! It's a Ruger replacement loading gate. Your latest picture shows it much better. Notice how the darker background makes the gun much more exposed and shows much more detail. Good job on that!!! And again you have a very nice old Ruger and someone should pick this one up!!!!!

Thanks. Like I said this came to me as part of a deal, and I am not into collecting, and its too nice shape to use as a shooter, so looking to move it on. Appreciate all the feedback. Possible trades might be a stainless 30-06 in nice shape, or a colt 1908(1903) .380 ( i can add some cash for that)

Well one more bump to the top. Any interest? Did have a couple trade possibilities listed above, I have cash to add for those if needed.

Man, you have no idea how much I and probably lots of other people would love to buy your gun. But I just pre-ordered $550.00 worth this week.

Beautiful old gun!
