1955 Christmas gift Ashtray

I picked this up last year but have been scared to put it in my Ruger memorabilia curio cabinet because I have cats and kids. It has been sitting in a padded hard-shell case since it came home with me and my wife surprised me with this today. She had found a nice deep clock, gutted it, and then built it up so the ashtray looks like its floating. She had the black fabric on hand to use as filler in the background. We are going to try some additional colors as she finds the material but I'm liking the black. Now to find a home for it.

I got one a few years ago from Kurt "Ruger" Vogel in 2019 when visiting him up at the single six ranch in Prescott AZ. yes, that's Bill grandson. told me that I be surprised if I knew used it. only if it could talk. ill post a photo of it when I return to AK.

She had some different color felt cloth to put in it to get an idea of what the different colors were going to look like. I'm liking the green over the other two as long she can find a nice velvety finish like the black cloth.

I prefer the red but both ahead of the black

I Love the Red, as the green reminds me too much of that green wreath LW box I got a few months ago. Painfull experience!

I really liked the green, that it what color I have in it right now. I commented to Taryn that Green really wasn't a Ruger color, and it needed to be black, red, or yellow. She then asked why I spent so much money on a Lightweight Green Wreath box? She got me on that one, I guess. It is the color of money when it comes to Ruger's in Green.

Is that one in White with the crack already repaired,, or is that a before picture?

Also,,, if it's a before picture,, who is doing the crack repair? Interesting that a crack can be repaired.

This one still haunts me:

When I saw that episode, I made a note of where they were picking with the intent of trying to track it down. It was, as I recall, a local sheriff's deputy helping sell off a friend's estate over in upstate NY not too far from here, as I recall it was Herkimer County. I took that pic of my TV screen at the time. But I procrastinated (like for over a year) and the next thing I know, @jussbad is posting about the nifty ashtray he saw on Pickers, tracked down, and bought!

I had a friend drop it off at Keller China restoration, (ceramic repair shop), in Rapid City South Dakota. This ashtray was well used off the desk of Steve Vogel, I only wish it could talk! It looks much like the one from pickers I think. It is a before picture.
