Haven't had too many reports of 1911 sn's being turned in yet, the highest sn I've had reported is nearly 670-04000.
But on comparing pics from a couple different magazines I note that "Shooting Times" June 2011 pictures a gun on the cover with a serial number that was put on in block style letters. That gun is sn 670-02015 which is apparently one of the first 15 or 16 produced since Ruger started at about 670-02000 on this model.
The gun pictured on Ruger's New Products catalog, Version II (handed out at the recent NRA show) is sn 670-02465 and had the serial number applied in line style, not double-line, like 670-02015.
I assume there probably aren't too many Ruger 1911's that look like 670-02015 described above.
Also, the ST gun has black checkered hard rubber diamond grips with integrally molded Ruger eagle logo while all production 1911's are apparently coming with diamond checkered cocobolo grips with black background "sturmless" medallions.
Lastly....what the heck is this? A prototype or a photoshop pic??? I'm betting it is a true prototype, but has anybody else seen a Ruger 1911 that looks like this??? Maybe those that tested them in December 2010 or earlier?
