18 years and no TV

Hello, my name is Blackhawknj and it's been 18 years and ?? months since I last had TV at home. Don't feel the least bit deprived. There was no specific event, not seeing something offensive caused me to banish the airwave from my abode, rather I was still in the Reserves at the time, had started the new hobbies of historical reenacting-RevWar and Civil War, plus I do a Spanish American War impression. Recall coming home one day, turned the tube on, got a message about contacting the service provider, figured out I hadn't paid the bill, OK I'll take of that...a month went by, the another month, then another, the next I knew a whole year had gone by, the only two things I had really wanted to watch were a somewhat loose adaptation of 20,000 Leagues Under The Sea and Rough Riders, borrowed VHS tapes (how quaint) for those. The cats didn't complain about its absence, when I had a girl over she sure didn't complain....looking back on my misspent youth, I can clearly recall books I read-and remember, while TV shows I watched....? You pay-?-$100-$150 a month, and as Bruce Springsteen said "57 channels and there's nothing on.."

Haven't had a tv in the house for quite a while now.
News isn't news. Not sure what it is but it isn't news.
Comedies are all about bad sex and bodily functions and aren't funny.
Everything else seems to be cop shows where the body count is higher than WWII.
We thought we would miss tv. Nope, don't even give it a second thought.
Oh yeah, I forgot about the 27 vampire and zombie shows showing human hamburger
and rather odd ways of walking. Jeeeez folks just die already.

We had no TV until our daughter was born. Turned out one couldn't get a baby sitter if one didn't have a TV. Previous to that, I hadn't had a TV since, well it was before color...

I confess to now be a regular watcher of MASH on METV. All in the family is on another 'oldies' network, but the one show I'd give [most] anything to watch, Monty Python, is a no show, which I don't understand at all.

for the last two years I only get movies and old TV shows and such on Internet, and dont watch much of that except if there is a good movie on. We just watched "NOAH" with Russell Crowe, looking at Tejas & okiehoma flooding, maybe God does work in mysterious ways....

Haven't had TV since 1983. Missed it for a couple of weeks, then gave the TV set away to keep from falling off the wagon. Now we have Netflix and a collection of classic movies on DVD. Spend most of my time listening to music, writing, and chasing the wife...but that's another story!

Haven't had TV since 1985. Found myself watching too much...then the wrong stuff so I got rid of it. Now if I need mindless entertainment it's YouTube. Old westerns mostly and for some reason The Voice, X-factor or some other talent show. Some of those "unknowns" are really impressive...coming from one who is mediocre at best.

No TV except the occasional DVD, YouTube channels. The only "show" I followed was "The Big Bang Theory"-what a hoot! IMO

Well we do have tv`s. It`s a mixed bag. I wont have smut in the house so often have to change channels in the middle of a movie when it sneaks in. I do like the western and history channels some and the wife likes her Walton's and lil house on the prairie. But 90% of the time it`s fox news. Like every thing else in the world it can be either good or bad.
