I just saw a 4-5/8 SS Blackhawk at my LGS. I looked at the Ruger site and they say they 6.5" is Distributor item. Is the 4-5/8 a rare bird?
Currently no. As noted, both the 4-5/8" and 6-1/2" barrel lengths were made as a limited run for a distributor (Lipseys). When they were still in stock they could be found for just under $600. They can still be found fairly easily, but prices have creeped up.Dan in MI said:Is the 4-5/8 a rare bird?
With the long cylinder, you can also load to a longer OAL, ending up with something between "regular" 10mm and 10mm Mag.5of7 said:I have a Buckeye exclusive Blackhawk in 38/40-10MM. In a strong gun like the Blackhawk, the 10MM can be handloaded to impressive ballistics. 8)
