1022 tactical flash hider removal

Hello, new poster, old lurker here,

I just got a Tactical 1022 and the rifle really looks great except for what looks like a flash hider out of place. Anybody know how the threads go (clockwise, or counter..?), and whether they're locktite'd or pinned?

If I can unscrew it, I'll find some plastic (or rubber) tube to slip over the threads to protect them.
