Have heard that some first year production 10/22s in 22 lr were made with steel recievers can anyone confirm this, if so how many were made.

The 10/22M models had steel receivers. Never heard of any other production models having anything but aluminum.

No, the first four years of blued models had anodized aluminum receivers. After which they switched to a teflon coating.

That's an interesting question. All regular production 10/22's from the very beginning had aluminum receivers, but I wonder if any of the prototypes in 1964 or earlier had steel receivers?

I have been told that a very few were made but are in the hands of special collectors (whatever that means I don't know). AMT made a copy of the 1022 as well as a copy of the MKII Auto Pistol. Their 1022 copy was made with a steel receiver. Ruger sued and stopped further production. It is possible to purchase an aftermarket 1022 Steel receiver if you want to build your own custom rig.
