On one of our local boards there are 2 Rugers for sale.
The first is a 10/22 with the European stock, and the guy is asking $900.00. He listed no customization that had been done.
The other is a Ruger Charger. Now I am not real familiar with this gun, but isn't it just a 10/22 with a semi pistol stock? The Charger, the asking price is $500.00.

These prices seem outrageous, or is that a fair price.
Wondering if someone is trying to capitalize on the Obama warfare on gun owners?

Its worth what someone is willing to pay for it. I wouldn't buy either at those prices. My top dollar for any 10/22 is $250. I've still got the one I bought off a friend 20 years ago for $80.00. 8)

The Charger is $200 too much.
For $900 that 10/22 had better have a hard case, be gold plated, fully engraved, have a scope and be unfired.

As an Amazon Associate we earn from qualifying purchases. Product prices and availability are accurate as of the date/time indicated and are subject to change.
I can see how a Mannlicher NIB with papers from the '60's could be worth $900.

Charger? I'd give $100 for one if it had enough aftermarket mods or was NIB complete with unicorn hair wrapper.

I wouldn't sell my Charger for $500. I don't think there are many Chargers that will put 30 shots into half an inch at 50 yards though.

Standard synthetic stock, standard barrel and sights are available new in my region - $275 or so- which I believe, after all,is retail or close.

Have not had a 10/22 in many years. So I bought one at the local gun shop. And Ruger 25 round magazine-$50 as part of the purchase. (old retail was about $39). Many magazines in stock with "$75" tags.

Never squeezed off 25 rounds so quickly, and considering .22 availability, won't be doing that again soon.

Just paid $199 brand new for a standard, no frills, 10/22 at a local to the Northwest retailer (Bi-Mart). Regular price is $209 there.

Basic carbine - Springfield Mo gun show a few weeks ago $240.00 Academy Sports in the same City (when they have um) $199.00. Local Wally (when they have um) $230.00.

Last week I picked up a stainless 10/22 with synthtic stock for $250, brand new in box. The blued versions were at $225 and take downs were $345. No one where I live would pay the prices the OP is talking about.

The full stocked 10-22 is most likely a Mannlicher model in either blue steel or stainless and as these are not the common Wally world fare it's safe to presume that it would indeed command more $$$ than say the standard carbine model as there are fewer Mannlicher models out there. New they cost more than the standard model to begin with also.

It is pretty safe to say however, that those prices are a bit on the high side.

Now the Ruger Charger which is now apparently discontinued would command a higher price by the virtue that it's no longer currently being made.

The fact that the Chager is no longer made, less than 10 years after its release, is an indication that people weren't buying them and Ruger realized it could use the production resources on something that people wanted. The fact that it is no longer in production does not mean people will pay more for it. I'd be inclined to say that it will likely command a lower price because it's not a popular firearm.
