10/22 TD hints

I did some looking and didn't see anyone else talking about it so I thought I'ld toss out a few tid bits I just learned on my newest addition. The take down 10/22 is a fine little rifle, but as with anything with new features and extra parts there are new ways to screw them up. If you spin the barrel adjustment nut even a single notch to far out, the gun cannot be assembled. Also the bolt must be locked back for assembly and disassembly. Maybe this is covered in later manuals, but it wasn't in mine (something I only checked very much later, after the fact). May not be revolutionary, but maybe it'll save someone a few minutes of "oh s###", when they think they've messed it up.

I got one of the first ones and it came with a manual insert that mentioned both the barrel tension system and bolt lock back. I didn't try it but I'm sure the extractor would snap right off if somebody wrenched on it.

I have forgotten to lock the bolt back a couple times...haven't broken the extractor yet...should buy an extra one just in case...it is alright to put the td together with the bolt closed tho

The bolt does not have to be locked back.... As long the bolt is far enough to the rear for the extractor to clear, the barrel can be removed. I hold the rifle with the barrel in my right hand and the action in my left. Using my left thumb, I pull the bolt back and remove the barrel with my right. Works every time.

what they were saying is the extractor needs to be out of the extractor groove and locking it back ensures no ad.
