OK, so I've read through a lot of posts on the 10/22 Takedown. It sounds like most people are pleased with theirs. I am considering buying one. These appear to be the most common complaints:

1) Breech end of barrel not heat-treated
2) Rear sight machined improperly (not perpendicular to barrel)
3) Nicks in end of barrel

Is there anything else I should look out for before picking one up?

Thanks,

SR

Davidson's has a new variant coming... I'm not crazy about the flash hider, but the barrel is 16.2"

The three things in your post are the biggest things to watch for. While inspecting rifles when I purchased mine a lot of the front and rear halves did not line up properly, easy to correct but a person should not have to. Also a few receivers with scratches right out of the box. I don't know whar Ruger is doing to put all those nicks, some severe, in the end of the TD barrels as the regular rifles do not have them.

I'm new to this forum. I've been looking for one of these 10/22 TD and can't find anyone whos selling them...anyone know where I coudl purchase one...Ive seeen the USA model, blue guns are not my cup of tee...but Im will to if I can find one in any flavor, prefer the black one...Thnaks in advance for your response. I sold mine after firing a couple of hundred rounds.
Didn't like the sights, plastic stock and horrendous trigger pull.

I finally got mine...1st one was a good deal..second was much better price wise...I really like these rifles...

Premiums are staill there if you want one and especially for the special editions and the newer one..butits all about your personnl flavor:) Think its a sweet looking weapon although I would prefer a wood stock on it, and Ive seen someone make there a refinished wood stock that was great looking.

There is supposed to be a blue one with flash suppressor.I would buy this one as it would be easy to add a sound suppressor. It would also be worth more if it is banned.

I am not sure on these, nice design, but mine moves point of impact with each assembly. Defeats the purpose of a takedown. Even with adjusting the torque ring. I have an early one.

Number 2 can be fixed by loosening the 2 allen head screws and turning the piece until sights line up.

Have had very good luck with mine...none of the problems listed. Mounted a Leupold 4X matte and did a trigger job...works well for me this far.

I'd like to buy a Takedown but there are none available. I've searched everywhere. If you know of a source please share a link or contact. Thanks!
