10/22 Mag fallout

Hello All,

My friends magazine on his 10/22 just began falling out after firing the last round. Any ideas?

Just a guess, but has he or a previous owner installed an aftermarket magazine release? Correctly?
Make sure the magazine well is clean and with an unloaded gun, play around with seating magazines and operating the bolt to see if he can duplicate the problem. Perhaps you can see if any parts are worn et cetera.

the pin that holds the magazine release button can fall out unseen while putting the rifle back together after cleaning... I suspect this or the little spring in the mag hold part has broken or gotten dirt in it.

I don't know if that's his problem (insufficient info to even wager a guess) but I can attest to the above statement. I typically spend 10 minutes cleaning the gun and another 20 trying to find that ***** **** ***, ****, ***** pin somewhere on the floor.

Try a dab of grease on the pin next time & try not to curse so much, HaHa!! I Know it's Hard down there in Hazard Co.
As Blume said I'd look at the pin & the piston that holds the magazine & it's spring & lever..
If it's dirty strip it down & clean it up & reassemble with zero lube.
