Just got a Blue and Walnut International, Would like to hear some suggestions for a scope. I would like to keep it "old school" style. No reddots or high power scopes. Just something clean and compact.

Unless it's a serious tack-driver and used just for piunching holes in paper, a 1.5-4.5X or 2-7X is about the best all-around scope for a .22. Lots of folks put way too much scope on their rifles.... and .22s seem to suffer from this a lot. Let the scope suit the intended use.
I have an old (late 60s) 10/22 and it wears a vintage Weaver 2.5X. My built-up target 10/22 has a Simmons 4-12X40 AO..... a good target scope, but not well-suited for plinking or hunting.

Old School? A gloss leupold 4x compact rimfire. Or, even better in my opinion, a 6X36 FX-II with the parallax set at 50 yards. Nothing is cleaner looking. If you don't want to spend that kind of money, I would keep my eyes open for an old Tasco 4x made in Japan. Those were very nice looking, and not bad scopes. Nice ones can be had for way less than $50.

Checkout the weaver 2x7. Good quality for the money about 150 at midway looks "right" on my internationals.

I just put an inexpensive 4x Bushnell on mine. I used to buy variables, but soon realized that I never used anything but 4x anyway. Why spend the extra money?
My rifle is a stainless model, so I suppose I should have gotten a silver colored scope for it, but I had a black one already. It'll do.

For one of mine I bought a 4x on ebay that came off of a Ruger air rifle. Has the Ruger logo on it, and was under 20 bucks shipped.

Im getting ready to put together a 10/22 and i have decided im gonna use an out shotgun scope i got sitting around, 1.5-4.5x32... Ill prolly go with some see thru sights so the irons sights will serve a purpose, not sure if that will work or not and set the scope up to be as close to dead on at 40 yards as i can.

Don't do it.... just mount the scope in the lowest rings that will still clear the barrel. Those things put the scope so high that a good cheek weld is impossible to get, and the iron sight picture through them is like looking through a toilet paper tube.
The 1.5-4.5X scope is as close to the perfect .22 scope you will ever find. At 1.5X, you can shoot with both eyes open if you have a strong dominant eye, and if not, the field of view at 1.5X is better than what you get through those terrible "see through" mounts.
On an International, I really like the looks of a scope with no enlarged objective bell. In other words, the objective is the same diameter as the tube.
