Has Ruger ever made any, or, had any distributor specials where they made a #1 RSI in 7-08?

tks, c4

No. The 7x57 is so close there would be no point. Except for the "want it" syndrome. Ruger only made #1s in an AB and a K1B ss/laminate as far as I know, Both are scarce. I have one of each.

Wunbe: I show a short uncataloged run of 7-08 "A"s. Are you sure about "AB"s?

I found a new take off barrel in 7-08 KB last year. I turned it into MY version into an "AB", a #2 (#3 action with #1 wood) with a 20 inch barrel.

You are absolutely right about the 7x57.

Picket Pin,

You are right about my 1A 7mm 08! I mixed it up with my 7x57 1AB. I got both of them from Splitz at about the same time, thus twinning them in my age-battered memory.

It must have been hard finding a K1A forearm.

I had my K1B 7mm 08 bead blasted to a satin finish to reduce the glare off the SS. That was among the first SS #1s Ruger made and they must have bought the SS from a solar mirror company. As it is now, it is a keeper.

I have sold off all my other SS/laminate #1s in favor wood/blue models in the same calibers. Those with no caliber replacements from the factory are custom made for me. The 257 Bob being made now has an octagonal barrel, color hardened receiver and custom quarter rib, and stock made from select walnut -- all in an A sized carbine but w/o the AH .

Regards,

1B: The barrel I found had the matte/brushed finish.

I still have my "Get out of jail free" letter from Bill regarding AH forearms. After a discusion with the new CEO they decided they would honor it and in fact he wrote me a new one.

It makes getting AH forearms a LOT easier for my rifles BUT it's also a lot more exspensive than finding one on e-bay from time to time.

I decided to treat myself when I tturned 60 and build 2 full blown custom #1s in 257 Roberts. It's been a few YEARS, one is at the engravers and the other is at the stockmakers and scheduled to go to the checker soon. One will have an octagon barrel and the other half round/octagon.

I figure I can /will give one to my son and one to my grandson, when I quit hunting with them. ;-)
