Hi I just picked up a #1 RSI 7x57 and it has about a 1/2 inch of sloppy play in the cocking lever when the lever is all the way open none of my other #1s have this play Is there a easy fix for this ? It locks up tight when closed and shoots fine I have never had to take a #1 apart

GRAMPS 51, You didn't say if the excessive play was "verticle" or "horizontal". Have you checked the lever pivot pin and screw for tightness? The lever pin hole itself could be excessively worn from "hot" loads. The breach may be locking up tight but there is something amiss to have that much play. Since you are not familiar with taking a # 1 apart, although it is relatively easy, I would recommend you take it to a local "competent" gunsmith to have him take a look at it. He would be able to note any discrepancies in the lever parts sequence. There is also the regular route of sending it back to Ruger. It's your call!...................Dick

Hi When the lever is all the way open the play is front to back the gun looks to have very little use I think I will take it apart first thing in the am and see what makes it tick

THANKS GRAMPS
