#1 in .338 Win Mag Front Sight

Can anyone tell me if this is the correct front sight for this rifle?

No, it's a Lyman banded front sight.

So, either it replaces the original sight, either by removing the original from the barrel or cutting the barrel back,

or it started life as a "B" and someone changed it into an "S" by replacing the fore-end and quarter-rib and adding the front sight. It's curious that the seller doesn't show any pictures of where the barrel-band sling swivel attachment would be on an S. This leads me to suspect that the second scenario is what happened to this rifle.
