#1 barrels, factory lapped?

Since Ruger does not say so, which would be a feather in their cap and partly justify the ever-increasing MSRP, I doubt it.

They now make their own barrels and, judging by reduced bitching about poor results based on over generous throats and rough barrels, they clearly do a better job in final quality control now than before. But there is little evidence that they emphasize hands on finishing that takes time and skills that drive up cost.

The #1 rifle otherwise has had few if any dedicated innovations or fixes since its inception.

I believe it's the quality of the current production hammer forged barrels that leaves such a good finish
that they almost appear lapped under a bore scope. I think it was John Barsness who mentioned this
in an article somewhere.
