Got a .22lr barrel with a 1/2-28 thread muzzel, it just has a cap on it now.
What is it good for?

you can apply for and buy a "suppressor" ( silencer) to go on your gun...........fill out the paperwork, pay the "tax stamp" and wait for the background check & BATF approval...its running close to 6-8 months right now.

Does anyone know the thread pitch on the overrun batch of threaded 10/22's that were intended for sale in Europe? I have one and thought I read somewhere it was not a standard pitch. Is the 1/2"x28 standard?

I think the over-runs are 1/2"-20tpi...

1/2"-28 is the standard for AR-15s, and most folks have adopted it for anything similar in bore size.

Larger calibers use a different thread... 5/8"-24 is common for the .30s, IIRC.

Does anyone have experience with this outfit?

Found on the web last night. Very interesting designs to match Ruger Mark III barrels.

Thanks,
Mark

You can also do this:

Yankee Hill Stainless Mite (rated for 22WMR as well).

I also have a Single Six that a previous owner had threaded. I am told that a "can" magnifies the "bark" significantly.

I'll bet it amplifies the bark.... Only revolver I can think of that it makes sense to suppress would be a Nagant 1895.

I know you have your answer, so let me add a photo too...

A 22lr supressed with standard velocity ammo is a very good investment. Shoot all day without ear protection and don't bother anybody else too. A suppressed gun also doesn't scare all the game to their dens too (here in PA we can hunt with supressors but I have to mount this on a bolt gun as we can't hunt with semiautos  )

Who did the barrel threading for you on the 10/22 TD?

Here is the shop that is doing mine...

http://www.jpgrips.com/

I am also having the barrel cut back to 16.5-inches and having the front sight remounted in that shorter configuration. If the sights are too short with the supressor, I will replace the 10/22 sights with 77/22 sights as the 77/22 sights are taller and will mount on a 10/22 just fine.

Now, John what's the chance Lipsey's does a run of shortened guns with threaded barrels and folding stocks? You know there are plenty of buyers for such a gun

Sorry... Been away from the interweb for a while.

The Gun Store in Cedar Park, TX has a local Smith that they work with. He did an awesome job on both the TD and SR 22. He had to move the sight back on th TD to get enough to thread. It all looks like it came from the factory that way though.
