Ballester–Molina 11.25mm with history

I picked this up from good friend who was liquidating her grandfather's firearms.
Made in Argentina in 1945 and came with a case of brand new old ammo made in 1945 at the Twin Cities armory. 11.25mm is the same as 45 ACP.
I got a chuckle from the note he had left behind detailing the guns history.

Looks like it's in good shape. The note is funny. I don't think there were any Ballaster Molinas at the Battle of the Bulge

Nice gun and I agree with 'AT 123', being it was made so late in the war, BUT always buy the gun ,not the story.........GUYS CAME HOME WITH ALL KINDS OF STUFF ,BOTH COMING AND GOING!!!

I agree seeing that the Battle of the Bulge was from mid December of 1944 to late January of 1945. It looks like a great pistol though

The British bought several thousand Molinas, so there COULD have been some present at that particular engagement, but that isn't one of them.
All the British guns have a B prefix.

A late friend of mine served in the Pacific during WW2 and came home with a broomhandle Mauser he took off a dead officer in the Philippines.. He still had his copy of the paperwork that allowed him to keep it and bring it home.
He said he could never hit anything with it and considering the sights I'm not too surprised. He let me shoot it once and got madder''n a wet hen when I hit the adult beverage can on the first try. The sights were bad enough but the trigger pull was atrocious. Frankly, I think it was nothing more than pure luck.

I used a Ballerina Molester to shoot my best time in bowling pins.

Knew an old guy, a doctor, from Argentina who had worked at the Argentine military academy. He said that he and a buddy would check out BMs from the Armory and go shooting. For targets they used Penicillin vials. After a few range trips and busting vials, a non-com told them that they shouldn't be able to do that. LOL.

If memory serves, I got mine from SOG (RIP). The first batch that I got were Ballester-Rigauds but they were fugly. The finish was all gone. I took one to the range and set a target at 25 yards. I shot off hand and shot something like a 97 (sorry, the memory is getting hazy). I foolishly sent them back and got some that were refinished. Fine shooters but I should have kept the BR for the historical aspect.
