I walked into my favorite LGS today to some bad news: I missed out on both a Single Six AND a Single Seven last week while out of the country on a cruise. The good news was that I already have an example of that model of Single Seven (model 8165, “blued” with a 4-5/8” barrel). It sold for $1250
. I paid $800 for mine ANIB almost four years ago. The other good news was they had a SP-101 in .357 with a 3” barrel sitting in the case priced at $299!! I figured out why after he handed it to me. It has been fired very little but the “stainless” steel isn’t- it’s badly stained, but no raised corrosion that can be felt. After checking for lockup, cylinder rotation, end shake etc. (all good) I offered $250 and walked out with it five minutes later. I haven’t removed the grips yet, but will break it down this weekend for further inspection and cleaning. Take a look at the staining and give me some ideas as to how to get rid of it. I have a small tube of Flitz around here somewhere, but this might require a large tube! Any other suggestions?
