Mine were terrible, after its 3rd trip back to the factory for other issues they installed a set of polymer ivory grips that fit well.
Three trips to Ruger? Boy I bet others beside me would like to know what the issues were?

The gun would randomly lock up , couldn't get it to do it consistently . Took 3 times for them to replicate the issue and find the problem . I got a personal call from the fellow doing the work on it apologizing and wanted to make it right . It sounded like a transfer bar timing issue was the big problem . Got a new set of grips for free and a working gun finally lol. I only paid for the 1st trip and Ruger covered the rest.

I have to wonder if it isn't the factory pawl setup. The free spin mechanism on the pawl cams off a machined groove in the grip frame. Any inconsistency in depth or angle can cause the action to lock up. I have had this issue myself. It seems from my feeble research that Ruger initially used a thicker transfer bar instead of machining the grip frame. On newer models the transfer bar is standard thickness but the grip frame is notched. I eliminated the issue altogether by installing Power Custom free spin pawls on all my guns that were free spin from Ruger. The Power Custom unit cams off the main frame not the grip frame. No more problems.

Starting to get more than a bit frustrated with Ruger, their inferior products and their complete lack of service.
When they sent me the return shipper for my never-fired revolver, they said they were running 2-4 weeks on repairs, but would update me as things progress,
As of today, they've had it for 6 weeks with not so much as a peep. I did call at 4 weeks to ask for an update. The lady told me then 4-6 weeks, but I'm not clear if she meant 4-6 weeks additional time.
I hope I'm not being unreasonable, but I do expect people to follow through when they tell me they're going to do something.
I just hope they send me the gun and spare cylinder back (not sure why they had me send that) in decent shape.
After buying Rugers for 30 years this will certainly be my last.

They had my new John taffin 45 ppp for about 4½-5 weeks. They are sending the grip frames warranty work to Bobby Tyler to be fitted properly.
My new 41 bisley flat top was back in a little over a week.

Got my JT 45 ppp back from ruger.
They took some pride in getting it fixed properly! Polished the whole gun, sent grip frame to Bobby Tyler for grip frame fitment, new grips, trigger/action work, cylinder fitment work & a new front sight blade. Took 4½-5 weeks. Bobby did a fabulous job with the grip frame fitment to the grips!!
Got a chance to see how it fit in the barranti John taffin ppp holster. fit like a glove and high quality holster

Im sure you won't be disappointed when i talk to the head quality vsm for the revolvers he seamed very concerned about all the issues and he actually wanted mine on his desk to personally look at it. And before it shipped back to me it went to him for review of work. They didn't update me on progress except the generic 2-4 week email they send when they reciev the gun. I had 2 special order lipsey exclusive ruger in less than a week go back for repair so i totally understand your frustration. I hope all this makes ruger get their QC tightened up!
Sent a email Shipping notice with a list of work done. It was sent over night FedEx air had it the next day after email under 24 hours from NH to Idaho.
Looks like your new grips have flat bottoms! Ronnie Wells mentioned that Bobby was going to put those on all the Taffin PPP’s going forward, even though Ruger wasn’t happy about it. I’m glad for the change, as that is what the first few hand fit gun have, and one of them was used for advertising the PPP.

That's exactly what I thought ! I wouldn't send mine back until I talked to the head off quality vsm because i didn't want a different serial number
already had the holster ordered for it also.They sure made it look 100% better compared to the way i received it.

What's Ruger's issue with flat-bottom stocks? The bevel bottom has always been the thing I didn't like about any of the Ruger SA stocks.
Ruger has had beveled stocks from the very beginning, and they view it as a trade mark feature of their single actions. Given the “custom” nature of the PPP stocks they are not getting too bent out of shape about the flat bottoms.

Since I already have an older Ruger Bisley in .45 Colt in stainless with a 5.5" barrel, I'm thinking I'll wait for the blue ones to show up closer to summer, and snag one in 4.5". Maybe they'll have the QC issues worked out by then. At least I'll tell myself that.
My JT revolver made it back from Ruger today. Apparently Ruger can put together a decent six gun when they want to. Overall, I'm happy with it as it came back.

The throats on the cylinders are still too tight, but they fixed the cylinder gap deficiency. Before I sent it in the 45 Colt cylinder was at about 0.010". Feeler gauges say between 0.003" and 0.004" tonight. The 45 ACP cylinder is tighter than that, but isn't binding. [br][br]Looking forward to finally trying it out this weekend!
