Anyone know how many were produced, and why they were discontinued? I had a blued version in 45 Colt 6-7 years ago and really liked it. I myself rarely sell or trade any handguns, but an acquaintance wanted it REAL bad, and showed up one day with a nice S&W 625 Model of 1989...Knowing full well that I have a profound and incurable weakness for that particular model ( and 45 ACP revolvers in general. )...So, a trade was agreed upon, and down the road it went. He was one of those flaky types, and probably didn't have it a month, before off it went towards something else without any notification whatsoever to me.

Here's the one that I had, and I certainly haven't seen many on the used market since...And yes, I DID at least save some face by holding on to that extra 45 ACP cylinder! 😉

Interesting that demand was so low, considering all the other 7.5" models that Ruger has offered...And, that apparently sold well enough to continue doing so for several decades now.
 
I suspect cowboy action shooters probably found them too slow from the holster; that combined with the push to 38/357 by CAS, made the demand very low from that segment of the buying public. I suspect the non-CAS buyers of 45 colt Rugers were more interested in long barrel Rugers that could take those "Ruger Only" loads, so there was no interest from that group, either.

They weren't that popular. Old style Vaqueros with 7-1/2" barrels and simulated ivory panels in all three calibers are the scarcest of the regular production Vaqueros (besides the engraved cylinder models of course).

Well, Talo & Lipsey's have Ruger produce limited runs of special editions, so there is no reason they couldn't do it with some 7.5" New Vaqueros.
Especially in .45 Colt.
I'd buy at least two, and probably three each in blue & stainless. (for family members)
And they should feature the original profile short spur hammer - like my Talo “Fast Draw” edition.

Stupid is as stupid does. Or something like that. I sold them to a RF member CHEAP
(less than I had in them) and don't remember who.
I contacted him later to see if he was happy with them and never heard anything back.

What are these worth? I have researched gunbroker past auctions many times and look on the internet often. They never show up for sale. I have a 7.5 inch cch new vaquero in 45lc (black factory grips). Maybe 20 rounds through it (in safe since i bought it new in the early to mid 2000s).
My lgs said they had one 3-4 years ago and sold it for quite the sum. I asked on another forum and was basically laughed at for suggesting it would sell for anything more than a normal ruger new vaquero. Just don't know what to believe. Any info would e appreciated.
 
I scratched the itch for a 7.5 inch Vaquero a with a big frame 45 Colt in stainless a long time ago. It's the only long barreled one that I have, but i do have many more shorter barreled Vaqueros and New Vaqueros. My favorites being NV Montados in 45 Colt & 357, sheriffs in 44 Spl. plus a bird heads in 45 ACP.
