I got the same(?) ad. Interesting for those who are determined to carry a 'mouse gun'. The 22 lr 'segmented bullet' loads already on the market have a fairly impressive 'energy transfer' when fired from 5.5" barrel. The new ones claim to be tailored for shorter barrels so maybe less velocity loss?

I'd like to see some product testing, but I don't really see the utility of a light jacketed bullet at 950 fps, even if it does expand reliably. I would not expect sufficient penetration from such a loading. Maybe marketed as preventing overpenetration in crowded environments?

Plinkster had a real short video from the recent NRA Convention that introduced the new Uppercut bullets. They appeared to have really nice expansion. Probably be a good choice, where they are allowed.

The Peoples Republic of New Jersey does not allow "explosive" (hollow point) bullets. I have tried Federal's Punch ammo, but I don't like the incredible amount of muzzle flash they produce. Whether I shoot them through my LCP II Lite Rack, my 41/2 inch SR22 or my 51/2 inch Mark IIs, there is a noticeable fireball (even in a well lighted range) that people have remarked about.

The ad sounds pretty good and I hope it does work. Using 22 ammo and then skinning the animals shot with it tells a very different story than advertisements.
I/we don't handle as many trapped animals as we did when fur was valuable but 22 performance is quite a variable thing.

I saw that last night. I like the fact that he tested them using several different guns and barrel lengths. Gel penetration was 8-10 inches with a big shock cavity. The gel test with the 10/22 was pretty wild.

While no fan of the the muzzle flash either, I do like the load. I think it's shape would offer better penetration than the Uppercut as well. BTW: I'm from NJ as well. We can buy / carry hollow points as long as it's for sporting / hunting ( and a rifle of course). Proving intent can be tough though.

I've seen the Plinkster video and the above Tool video.

Different length barrel's used by each person. I wonder how this effected the outcome of the gel test?

How many people do gel tests on their own? I know I don't.

Punch has been out a while. I've run 50 rounds through my LCP II. Shots were about 3-5 inches lower than point of aim. Same day lots of Mini Mags at the the target and the target was peppered with holes-- to the point of aim.

I'll likely pick up some Uppercut eventually. Too early to tell if it's something I would want to use, practice with, carry.

Would be interested to see results out of a longer barrel and more from a rifle. Plinkster showed a few rounds out of a 10/22.

My LCP2 .22 likes Punch just fine, no failures to feed or eject. I had 1 magazine of Uppercut work ok, but after that they failed to eject at least 50% of the time and jammed up the slide. Not stovepipes, but jammed empties in line with bore. I haven't scoped this out, but I think the case on the uppercut may be a bit longer that the punch. That may not be true, but I need to measure them. The Uppercut is certainly a "hot" load, and it is odd to me that the Punch rounds have worked great while the Uppercut rounds really were problematic.

Plan to try the Uppercut in a Walther p22 next. I bought them direct from CCI's website.

Thsnks good to know I think I will stick to 36 cci mini mags I don't have any failures with them both in my p22 and lcp2
