Found this on the internet calls it a Super Blackhawk. Serial # comes up blank. My eyes cannot read the side panel. I prefer the longer bbl but this would be a good shooter.
Thanks for any help!

I don't know where you looked to have the serial number come up blank.

However,, the RENE Guide lists it as a Super Blackhawk from 1980. And it appears it may have had the barrel shortened.

The Ruger site.

Can't read the script side but I thought I saw "Hunter" in it.

"Standard New Model Super that someone lopped two inches off the barrel, and added the stocks. In my opinion."

I don't think Ruger was producing any short barrelled Supers in 1980. If I'm correct,, all the Supers of that era were 7-1/2" barrels.

The Ruger site."

If you look at my post,, I listed my source. The RENE, which is short for; "Red Eagle News Exchange." It's the best source for the best info available in print on Rugers. And,, just because Ruger has stuff on their website,, does NOT mean it's correct. There are many "mistakes" in their posted info. Sadly,, the info there is only as good as the people putting it in,, and often,, they are NOT familiar with much of the actual history or details.

Not a Hunter. Hunter versions had the longer barrel, are Stainless, and have scope mount cuts on the top of the barrel rib. And there weren't any factory Hunters in 1980.

Ruger web site shows 1980, under the New Model Super Blackhawk guns.
For guns made before 2000 use the drop down menu.

Whoever commissioned this probably paid more than the cost of the gun to make it suit them. It's possible that they just chucked the whole thing up in a lathe with a steady rest, chopped, crowned and installed the sight and touched up the blueing. The more I look that seems to be the case. The grips aren't even fit.
