My list has to include a good 30-06. Do it all hunting cartridge for the lower 48 and a practical long-range defensive cartridge if needed. Also easily loaded for.

Really like that stainless Ruger with synthetic stock. makes sense and the stock looks better than Hardwood Birch. Reminds me of my Ruger American 22 mag. only mine has a bolt. Could do much worse for a survival rimfire in either gun.

#5 should be at the top of your list. There simply is nothing more devastating at close range. I rock with a 9mm semi-automatic and a 12 gauge, but I can only roll with a 12 gauge because I roll my own buckshot loads (steel between #1-0 buck .30 cal) otherwise there are no commercial loads I could handle or tolerate. I got a 10 pellet load that will put just about anything down and with10 chances with one shot to do it. With the recoil no worst than my pocket 9mm. And everywhere I go the blaster will go before the pocket gun does even. I got into the game later in life than most and I only have a handgun because that's what I started out on.

  1. 1911 of ur choice
  2. 357 mag revolver
  3. AR15 or AK47
  4. 10/22 or 22lr pistol
  5. 12 gauge pump
Does it have to be 12 gauge? Not a fan of 12. Could think of shotguns I'd prefer over a pump. Pumps are mostly for punching holes in doors, etc. and don't really fit me well, either.

Good list. I had to think about it since I have cut way back on shooting due to ammo prices

While thinking about the OP, I realized that I only have 2 .357 magnums but multiple .38 specials. Only have 1 1911 and 1 AR. Multiple 12 gauges and . 22s though.

Small group of other semi automatics. Would have liked to add a lever action in .357/.38 special.

Due to wife's health issues no longer any funds for gun purchases. Life has a way of changing priorities. Maybe pick up an occasional magazine, miscellaneous gun parts, or box or two of ammo. Have not been to a gun show in several years. Enjoy your health while you have it.. Things can change in the blink of an eye.

I'd consider a good 20 gauge to be acceptable. But consider that 12 ga ammo is probably more commonly available most places.

...and 12 ga. would be the first to go in a shortage scenario which is what happened to the 9mm during the last two shortages. The most popular will be the first to disappear off the shelves!

It might not be a bad idea to have a 12 & a 20. I had a 20 gauge Mossberg but I sold it long ago. I decided I wanted something else more. Probably should have held on to it.

True that...Plus,12Ga buck can be had 25%-50% cheaper than 20Ga buck these days, which is not a small thing to some of us.

True DGW. Stopped at my local Walmart 2 days ago to check on 12 gauge No. 8 shot for some Trap shooting. Just Remington field loads and they were the cheapest at $10.43 Per box!! 2 years back I was getting the same for $6.50. Some at my club reload but Trap seems to be getting to be a rich mans sport lately. My 1100 gets a break more often now!
