The day after my 18th birthday in 1961, I bought a blue 4 3/4" Standard and used it for many years. I think what I liked about it more than anything else was that just by looking at it I could figure out how/why the action worked (takedown took a little longer, but I got there in time to keep it running smooth and gunk-free).
It is simply a work of genius. I still have a 6" Stainless Standard MKII, which is the only "improvement" I think was worthwhile, although the "safety/takedown" of the original worked fine for me. Thanks for posting the cover pic!
