Every cartridge has been my favorite at one time or another, but the 357 Mag always makes its way to the top on my list. Hercules 2400 married to a LBT/Keith hard cast lead bullet. Life is good......
I don't have the Ruger American but for the money it's a deal.
I would buy the stainless version in .270 Win and lap the barrel & locking lugs.
Might even use the fire lap method, like the Tubbs coated bullets.
NECO also sells a lap kit.
I bet I could get the American to shoot.....

I believe all "Government " models were Mark II pistols,
determine model (Mark II or III).
Yes these semi-auto's are a pain to re-assemble.
The hammer strut has to go into the the notch to properly assemble.
The condition is everything...
if it's in good conditon (90%) and in fact is a pre 64 I think $525 is a good price.
