I agree that the 3" barreled 44 Special GP should be offered in a fixed-sight offering. Any handloader worth his salt should be able to tailor a load to shoot to POA/POI.
I have always assumed (and this includes myself) the 44 SPL crowd to be of the "roll-yer-own" variety anyway!
I push my B&B Bullets 158 gn SWC in 357 Mag at true magnum velocity, and my Kootenai Cartridge coated hardcast 180 gn in 10mm at full power and have not had a bit of a problem. In 44 I'll do a 240 gn coated over H-110 @ 1275 fps all day long and not give my barrel a second thought. They just...
For teaching new shooters I always start with a SA revolver.
It's simpler to teach, and once cocked and fired it has, by design, rendered itself "safe" until deliberately cocked by the user.
A Beautiful albeit underrated feature imho.
Beings every Ruger I have or had in the past have all been adjustable sight models I would be tempted to get the fixed sight version.
I would then tailor a load to that particular gun.
John McClane once walked barefoot over broken glass during a fight with terrorists... Him's a wimp compared to you shooting 93 rounds of .454 in a single session!
Wow!
True enough; At this point the accuracy potential/question is hypothetical, but a new product should be delivered to the consumer at its best. This example, clearly, is not at Ruger's best. Therefore I feel that this is a big problem.
I wouldn't think it to be ok to buy a new car just to drive...
