    Accurate load for .44 Special

A nice light load is a 200 grain RNFP bullet over 5.0 grains of Bullseye. For a heavier load go with the tried & true Skeeter load. Those two work for me in my Ruger .44 special Flat Top.

    Bullet Lube

White Label Lube. I started with their BAC lube, but now use their 50/50. Works great, good price, friendly, fast service. What's not to like? :D

    Throwing brass everywhere

My SR1911 seems to throw brass around too. I built a homemade brass deflector using PVC pipe and nylon netting. Granted it is not always possible to use this, but when I can it does help some. It won't deflect all of it, but you can find most of it. Mainly use it when shooting from a...

Advice please on fixed sight problem

Thanks for the input from everyone. I've come up with some other loads to test in the GP100. My testing so far had been with 158 grain cast lead bullets and mid range loads. I'm going to test some loads with a little more oomph, and some using cast bullets with gas checks. I don't really...

Advice please on fixed sight problem

I have a 3" Ruger GP100 that has fixed sights. I purchased this revolver used from a gun shop. It appears to be in great condition. The revolver shoots very nice except that it seems to shoot to the right of point of aim. Bullet impact is about 2 to 3 inches right at 25 yards. I've shot...

Range report flat top Blackhawk .45 Colt

Tensaw, Both of the targets pictured were shot at 25 yards. I usually test at that range. If shooting at 15 yards I would probably use the same sight picture, and believe the bullet impact would be the same. Someone more familiar with ballistics might chime in and correct me if I'm wrong.

Range report flat top Blackhawk .45 Colt

Went to the range today (3/5/12) and tested my new Ruger flat top Blackhawk chambered in .45 Colt / .45 ACP which was produced for Lipsey's. Mine is stainless and has a 4 5/8" barrel. Attached are photos of two targets that I shot at 25 yards. The first target was shot using handloads made...

Regulating Handloads to a fixed sight gun

I'm reloading for a friend who has a Glock 21 45acp. We've tested several loads and so far the one that groups the best is 230 grain Montana Gold JHP bullets, Wolf primers, and 5.7 grains of Unique with a 1.250" OACL. This loads groups well...BUT...it's shooting a little below the point of...

    Question about Ruger lens labels

Okay...here ya go. I'm not certain, but wonder if they are to put on the plastic cases that my Ruger handguns came in. Anyone have any thoughts? :?

    Question about Ruger lens labels

I received a set of Ruger lens labels as a gift from Ruger. They're very nice, but I don't know what lens labels are and what they're used for. Would someone be kind enough to educate me on what they are used for? Thanks for your time.

    SR1911 range report

Scott, If memory serves correctly the pistol rest I use was manufactured by MTM. It's red in color. I shot at a range provided by the Conservation Commission. The benches are cast concrete mounted on a concrete slab. They are very solid. The target racks are set at measured distances to...

    SR1911 range report

On 12/22/11 I took my SR1911 to the range to test some more handloads. I loaded 25 rounds of each particular load. Both loads used .45 ACP cases, 4.2 grains of Alliant Bullseye powder, 200 grain cast LSWC bullets by GLC Bullet, and were seated to 1.260" OACL. The only difference was that the...

    SR1911 range report

As I said earlier I'm very pleased with my SR1911. I think the SR1911 will stand toe to toe with other 1911's that cost considerably more. Mine has consistently shot targets similar to that which is in my photo only using the other loads I worked up. Several folks at the range have commented...

    SR1911 range report

Jim, I bought one box (500) of the GLC LSWC bullets. They are good looking bullets, and they do seem to shoot accurately. The fella that owns the company doesn't live too far from me here in MO. I do think that rather than the SWC style my next purchase of GLC bullets will either be the lead...

    SR1911 range report

So far I've fired several hundred rounds through my SR1911. I've developed three good loads for my pistol so far. Two of the loads use Ranier 230 grain copper plated round nose bullets. One load uses 4.6 grains of Bullseye and is very good. It's averaging 765 fps. The second load uses 5.7...
