I find the Vaquero to be a very difficult gun to shoot. For me, it requires perfection in terms of grip, stance, lighting and concentration. Rarely do all four come together. The fixed sights are a big problem for me. They are small and seem to be significantly affected by light: the...
There are a couple of potential issues:
1. Is it you? It very well could be so ask your friends to try shooting it as well. Try also shooting it from the bench.
2. Consider light conditions. I find fixed sighted single action revolvers very difficult to shoot consistently. The point of...
No. I called Ruger and they emailed a shipping label. They asked me not to disassemble the gun. They will never reveal what the problem is based on my experience with them. They will fix it and return it. They are a great company; one that many in our country should emulate.
Suspicious...
Gents,
it has nothing to do with the grips. The crane pivot pin is pushed forward by the pressure applied to the cylinder when using the Safariland speedloader or my finger after I discovered the problem. As a consequence, since the cylinder is connected to the entire crane assembly which is...
My SP101 is about two months old. I loaded cartridges individually or used speed strips and an HKS speedloader up until today when I first used an Safariland. As you know, the Safariland must be pressed into the cylinder to release the cartridges. I was having problems occasionally...
This revolver is about 36 ounces and with perfect balance. My model, purchased one year ago, has the best Ruger trigger I have tried. I am a little sceptical of the comment that it is a parts gun or hobbled together for a security company contract and is of lesser quality. I think it is...
I have found the sights on the Vaquero (and probably all original Colt type fixed sighted SA's) to be very difficult to shoot consistently and accurately. For me they are more prone to effected by light angle and are more difficult to see than the standard Blackhawk adjustable sights. Although...
I just acquired a new GP100 and discovered the cylinder hole edges are extremely sharp which cause loading difficulties with a speed loader: rounds will hang up if not perfectly centered in the hole My other Rugers have more rounded and smoother holes.
I would like to know if my revolver is...
I am really disappointed. It appears there are no after market small grips made for the GP 100. The old style fixed sighted factory grips are not available from Brownell's or Midway (backorder until 4-27-11?). I understand they are no longer made so I don't if they are available at all.
The currently offered factory Houge grip is quite large, and certainly too large for me. It seems from my search that aftermarket replacements are large as well? Any suggestions on small grips for a GP100?
This is really hard to quantify, but how much louder was this 16.5 inch barrel compared to:
1. 16 inch AR.
2. 18 - 20 inch .308.
I know 16 inch AR's are pretty loud. A .308 or 30.06 in a normal barrel length is tolerable for a hunting shot once a year but if the difference is anything like...
