Poor groups with mark II target competition model

The best way to figure out the pilot size is to mic the barrel diameter. Slugging the bore is more accurate but you need the diameter across the rifle lands. A so called tight .22 barrel should be in the .215 ballpark. A more standard barrel should be around .217 and makes the .215 pilot a...

Lots of defects on my new Ruger 10/22 TD

This brings up an interesting point. Some high volume gun dealers (Cabelas springs to mind) show and let you handle a floor demo unit. When you have decided to buy they head back to the stock room and get you a new unit usually sealed in the factory box. You won't be handling this firearm...

Poor groups with mark II target competition model

Don't use use a ball bearing. You can get a properly sized brass lap from Brownell's. Clamp the barrel in a vise using proper padding and lap the crown with jewelry rouge and a low speed drill or power screwdriver. Go slow and look frequently. I have done a couple of pistols this way...

BRAND NEW 10/22 jambs at every third shot?

One more vote for extractor repair or replacement. Tolerance stackup in the factory ammo is probably showing that your extractor is marginal. My old faithful 10/22 eats almost every cheap piece of crap .22 I put in it.

What are the essential 10/22 mods without going broke?

A 1911 works as it's intended to out of the box, but that dosn't keep people from changing them to suit themselfes. That said the only mods I have made to the excelent 10/22 is a Volquartsen Bolt Stop. I concider it a must have and less than $20.00.

    What is this Rossi?

I have a 1980's vintage Rossi revolver, model 85 and that number is stamped under the cylinder crane, on the frame just below the barrel. Try looking there.

First Year Production - New Model Super Blackhawk

I recently aquired an S47N (New Model Super Blackhawk) that shipped in Dec. 1973. Not only does it have recessed Case Heads it has a small groove machined into the cylinder face as a firiing pin relief. I have been told that the early models used Old Model cylinders.

    .22 Conversion Kit Range Report

I have a Ciner conversion kit. Great accuracy, good quality, but I will NEVER buy another Ciner product. The guy treats his coustomers like dirt, there is basically no customer service if you have problems, and the guy was recently arrested by Florida for cheating his customers out of...
