7x57...When Did It Become An Obsolete Cartridge?

There are a lot of reasons that a cartridge falls out of favor. Many of the older smokeless military rounds that became very popular hunting/target rounds for civilian use have fallen in popularity. Some of this has to do with "what's new", what's new in guns, what's new in cartridge...

HEADS UP!! Bad lot of WWB?

It's pretty easy to make a roll like crimp with a taper die, all you have to do is adjust it down way past a proper setting or by elevating the case upwards so it gets further into the die. The only high speed loading machine I ever saw was one that had a belt chain that carried the rounds thru...

HEADS UP!! Bad lot of WWB?

Looks to be very likely a case of another roll crimped 9mm case. Winchester does this quite often with that round, very dangerous. The bullet and case get into the rifling and locks the case mouth from expansion and bullet release, no place to go but out the case head. These are from a box of...

    coal conundrum

The Hornady XTP/HAP 9mm bullet load lengths when using either 115gr or 124gr weight bullets should be around 1.070" to 1.075" long. This allows the round to fit in just about any 9mm pistol without ending up into the rifling. The Viht given length of 1.142" is grossly over length for the...

    Help with feeding issue.

On your grip. Those are stovepipes and are a classic sign of a loosening grip, some call it "limpwristing", I don't like it because people get all defensive. Work on maintaining a good two hand hold and check your reaction to recoil, should be okay after that.

Might it be a DAO? Whenever I see a used Sig at a great price it's normally a DAO pistol.

    New $200 Pistol?

It probably was really embarrassed when it was sitting next to a CZ SP-01 Custom and a SP-01 Shadow for sure. Well, i kinda screwed that up in several ways. I have been away from home quite a bit lately and felt it best to shoot some of my other pistols first just to warm up. After shooting...

wondering what ammo would have been issued to FBI agents ??

Here's a nice article from American Rifleman: https://www.americanrifleman.org/articles/2011/8/22/a-history-of-fbi-handguns/ According to it the first approved FBI .357 Magnum load was a 145gr Winchester Silvertip.

    New $200 Pistol?

I recently purchased a pistol on Gunbroker. I really didn't want it all that much and placed a low ball bid that ended up winning. So now I have a new pistol, it's based on a Tokarev pistol but is chopped and channeled and is in 9mm as opposed to 7.62x25mm. Made in Serbia (don't care for Serbia...

    LC9s Polishing Internals

I don't own an LC9 but I use the same Critical Duty in a few of my larger defense pistols. It feeds fine in those guns but they are larger guns with longer barrels that may benefit from a +P load. You won't get much of the advertised ballistics of that round out of a gun with a 3" barrel. I use...
