Just forwarding info from Ruger on New Vaqueros

Well I hate to drag this topic out any further but I just wanted to pass the info on. I called Ruger to ask if removal of the Ejector Alignment Pawl would affect a New Model Vaquero and he advised me it would affect the timing of the revolver. I told him many people have done this modification...

    New Vaquero revised question.

Well last night that little fella in my head that seems to make me tinker with shooters got the best of me. I did a lot of online research and the wear caused by that plunger is a concern shared by many and I went ahead and took the plunger out. To me that is not the ideal spot if any to...

    New Vaquero question

Thanks again Driftwood Ill be leaving that gun alone, I used to very good at modif. 1911's and have a hard time letting a gun just sit. :D

    New Vaquero revised question.

Thanks Driftwood, I am new to Single Actions and learning a lot but will more then likely think up a million more questions. I decided to leave the Vaquero stock as it is more of a pleasure gun. I was always one of those guys that likes to tinker with guns but I think this one is safe. Thanks all.

    New Vaquero revised question.

From what I can tell the reverse index pawl is not needed. Anyone ever remove theirs for good? Any side effects from doing so? I feel it causes wear on the ratchet and want to just remove mine.

    New Vaquero question

These dents or indents are to small for the camera to clearly pick up. They are crescent shaped at the edge of the ratchet tooth. The way it looks it appears that when I spin the cylinder to far and back spin it till the reverse indexing pawl stops the cylinder to load it, looks like I am...

    New Vaquero question

I just noticed some wear marks on the cylinder ratchet where the ejector alignment pawl, stops the cylinder. They look like little tiny dents from the ejector alignment pawl. I was wondering if this is normal wear or am I some how being to abusive when I rotate the cylinder to the stop position...

Redhawk4, good one! I get to crazy over these dang guns! I have entered the ooh & ah part of Ruger collecting so I have my one work horse which some how isnt the SP 101 and all the others mostly get drooled over or shown off.

First time this has happened to me!

From what I can tell the gun seems to function properly. I am pretty good with gun care so it was a slow-mo nightmare watching it hit the ground and landing on the floor cylinder out. Hey its a Ruger and if something were wrong I bet theyd fix it. Thanks all. :D

LOL, thanks for the replies. Good to hear i am not the only one to fumble a gun! I figured its a ruger and I buy them because of the toughness. Thanks all.

First time this has happened to me!

Well Ill start by saying I know rugers are among the toughest guns made but I did something today that I have never done in the six years of owning fire arms, I dropped one. It was my Ruger SP101. I opened the cylinder to load it and it fell flat but open cylinder side down. I tried the goofy...
