Neither is corrosive and both are re-loadable. No worries about pressure. I wouldn't pay a premium for the surplus over buying new commercial ammo. But if you can get it a a good price, buy it all!
The only 30 Carbine surplus ammo to worry about is marked LC 52. The real Lake City stuff is...
I picked up a Single Seven 5 1/2 this week, and I have to say I'm more than happy with it. Fit and finish are fine, cylinder gap is .006. This one has a fired cartridge date of 3 Oct, and a serial number in the high 1600s.
Grip fit isn't perfect, but no better or worse than any other Ruger I've...

Unfortunately Ruger won't quote a price until they have the revolver in hand. That's why I was hoping someone had recent experience with this. Hate to un-convert the BH and pay to ship it to Ruger, just to find out its more than I'm willing to spend.
I've got a .45 Blackhawk with a canted front sight; thought I'd get used to it, but it bugs me everytime I shoot it.
Been thinking about sending the gun back to Ruger to get the sight sorted out, and was curious if anyone has had Ruger rebarrel a Blackhawk to a different length recently? I...
First gun I ever bought was a Ruger Single Six, Liberty model back in 1976. After many years of hard use I sent it back to Ruger for a reblue:
Buy the Single Six, you'll never regret it.

I've got a Uberti 1866 in .44 Special. Mint, probably hasn't had a 100 rds through it.
Also have a 5.5 Vaquero in .44 mag. Its a clean up gun from a couple years ago, less than 50 rds down the pipe.
Let me know if you're interested in either.
