Things that just "feel right"

I know that I am not alone in this. There are certain things that we all place in higher regard than their manufactured counterparts. Doesn't mean that they are better, just that they "feeeeel" better. Like many of us I have many such things that feel many different purposes. Our FAVORITE tool, or t shirt, or record. Maybe its just nostalgia. Oftentimes these either are our EDC, or they used to be and are now retired living their "best lives" getting extra attention. I have a search in sleazebay for one such item for myself. It is just an old soft pistol case. I have lots of revolver cases, but something about this one brand in particular makes me think of my pops. Still looking.....
Another is an old steakknife with a well worn handle that I picked up at a flea market. Why?
I don't know. It just feeeels right. Makes my steak juicier. Every single time.

It's coming. I love fireworks and moreso the smell of fireworks. I drop about $1k on the fun stuff every year and we have a show. I say it's for the kids, but we really know.....

Some are OK. But I love the goal of finding out what is inside of a good quality hardcover.

Pretty sure my mail lady hates me. These came in today. I'm especially happy with the Blue steel and Gunleather book. This thing is in BRAND NEW condition. Somebody loved this book. They carefully wrapped the dust cover in plastic, stamped the inside cover with their name, and put in place the d'arc stamping on the inside cover. And it is autographed by John Bianchi. I am a book lover

Every time I pick up one of my shooter OM, 3-screw Rugers. They feel just right when using them.

I love my old models, but when it comes to feeling just right in the hand, it’s either my SP101 with the Trausch grips or the 4 inch barrel GP100 44 special.
When it’s my time to go, I’m going to see if I can’t get my son to slip one of them down in the coffin while nobody’s looking, you know, just in case

Pulling up into 3rd gear, the front gets light coming over the rise in the trail...............the rear kicks off the rise.................... and weightless as you clear the downed tree across the trail, and make a pass on the guy in front of you.
That just felt right

The shape of the old
Yellow Proto screwdrivers fit my hand. A Stanley 101 1/2 claw hammer with octagonal handle also just feels right.

I’ve had a 10” Matco magnetic tip screwdriver for 40 years. It may be just because I used so much back then, but it is always my go to screwdriver.

I searched the web for a long time to find a regular length (6”) to match, but once I found one, it just didn’t have the same “it” factor. I rarely use it.

My Father got me started riding mini-bikes at age 5, then dirt bikes, trail riding and racing through my teens. At age 21 I was between cars and rode a street bike out of need for transportation. This was the beginning of many to follow. My wife and I still have 3 wheelers from the 80s we purchased new. My daughter has 4 wheelers and my son now rides the Harley my father bought new in 2002. Motorcycles have been an integral part of my life for 60 years and it still gives me great joy to climb aboard and just take a cruise for a few hours. Sometimes I have a planned route and sometimes I just head for the horizon. Sometimes I'm alone and sometimes I have a pal or two as company. No matter the particulars, I always feel at home on the bike. I forget all of the BS that life throughs at us, and just take pleasure in the freedom and fresh air. It just feels like what I was meant to do, just feels right!

-my dog when he sleeps on me after a busy day of chasing squirrels
-lighting the fuse on an M-80
-my Benelli M4
-my F150 on a snowy, slippery day
-my Camaro on a dry winding road
-my splitting maul when I have a pile of red oak and its been one of those days...

Bought it as a basket case in '97. It's been through three or four different configurations. Been like this since 2006. The only change I'm considering is a slightly higher set of bars to favor my poor tired, messed up old back.

Got mine in 1996 as a cockroach of a chopper with a naked lady painted on a psychedelic gas tank. Didn't find that until after I stripped off like 4 layers of paint...classic! Should have taken a pic...no one believes me but my buddy who owns a Classic Motorcycle shop who also saw it.

I like KA-BAR LoomFixer knives. 2 great blades and a very smart handle shape that fits in my hand just right and gives a lot of control. With no hot spots

My 'just feels right' is a John Deere 4430. I traded a problematic 4020 for it as a low hour one owner in 1986 and the 4430 was my primary workhorse until 1980 when I added a 4440 which was/is 'my big tractor' to present. The 4430 is 'just right' for most of the farm work I do these days. It pulls an 8 row planter easily and is comfortable during the long days of spring. The powershift transmission makes it a winner for baling hay. The controls are right where I expect them to be--reached w/o even thinking about what's where.
The old girl is now a sought after 'classic' due to the original factory condition and extremely low hours on the meter. The dealer from which I got this tractor asked me every time I went in if I was ready to upgrade because he wanted it for his showroom.

I remember when I was a young man I was selected for a Marine of the quarter board. During these boards you stand before a handful of crusty old staff NCO's. They test your knowledge pertaining to the Marine Corps, try to find fault with your dress uniform, and peruse you service record books. You are competing amongst your peers from other divisions so they make sure they are very thorough. They are watching to see if you not only know the answers, but how you deliver those answers. Do ya stammer, or are ya confident with your knowledge?
One of the questions that I got was meant to be a stumper. Not common knowledge. Proud to say that I was the one Marine who knew the answer. The question was "the KA-BAR is the officially adopted blade of the Marine Corps. What does KA-BAR stand for?" It stands for Knives and Browning Automatic Rifles. Many decades ago rifles were sent to our boys in wooden crates that were nailed shut. On the top of these crates were these simple bladed prybars. Our boys whether out of necessity, or boredom shaped these tools into shapes very similar to the Marine Corps fighting knife that we all know. Word of this reached back to KABAR and they started producing these blades in mass. This story also goes back to the famous Marine Corps motto of "improvise, adapt, and overcome".

ALL of those sound like my idea of things that "just feel right" too. Well, not the snowy day. I will stay down here in the sun.

EVERY thread should have a motorcycle in it! I have a couple myself and love them!
My favorite is my 95 Electraglide that I have put many miles on, and she is gorgeous.....when she is running. So right now she is an ugly old hag. I should quit buying guns for a bit and fix her.

This answer leads me directly into my next post. I am going to search it 1st to make sure that it hasn't already been beat to death. Guessing it has, but I will check. Will prob still post it because I really really want to know something about these old 3 screws.
