WTS/WTT Custom built 50.cal. Underhammer Black Powder Rifle.

The barrel is a Green Mountain 7/8", 28.5" in length with a 1:70" twist for patched round ball that has been browned. The bore is in excellent shape. The wood was carved from a block of tight Curley Maple wood. The butt plate used on this rifle is from an old Ithaca Shotgun.

Total length of rifle is 45". Weights 6.1 lbs. LOP is 14.25"

The ramrod lug are polished brass and mounted directly to the barrel. The ramrod is also tiger stripped with a hidden ball puller.

The underhammer lock assemble is from Fire & Iron. The assemble has been highly polished and it looks like stainless steel. Fire & Iron in Florida make the best underhammer lock assemble, bar none.

The front and rear sights are fiber optic which can make the target for hunting or range shooting rewarding.

Price $700. If you have a Ruger Mark II or III, or any other Ruger pistol to trade I will consider seriously. No FFL is needed for Black Powder firearms.

The only reason I am selling this beauty is I have had shoulder surgery twice in the last year, and my shooting has me limited to sidearms and pistols. I cannot afford to undo (again) what the surgeon has done. :) I cannot see this functional range and hunting rifle just being a wall hanger. This rifle has taken Elk and Deer in the past and she is a great shooter if you enjoy black powder shooting.

Is this the Mark Bond build posted in the Underhammer Society site? Beautiful workmanship. If I had the money I would be gone in a second. I am sure it will be sold very quickly. I hate to see that you must part with it.

Yes, this is another rifle similar to the one published in the Underhammer Society. I need to rest my shoulder from shooting and let it heal this time. :)

I have been staying with my pistols and shooting right handed. I cannot afford any more pins in my body. Mommy is giving me marching orders and clipping my wings from shooting rifles because of my broken wing. She still signs my permission slips and allows me my range time but only with pistols. :)

Mark,

Thanks again. It has been a real pleasure doing business with you.

I am really looking forward to making white smoke soon.

Mark,

The Underhammer arrived unharmed in the most complete packing that I have ever seen. I'll duplicate that process, if I should ever need to ship a rifle.

Thank you for the amazing workmanship; the rifle is prettier in person than it is in the photographs.

It has found a new home where it will well cared for and fired regularly.

Making smoke this weekend,

GC

GC,

That's great news. I try to package rifles for the worst possible handling that might occur during shipping. :)

Can you tell I am use to packing equipment for Airborne Operations. :)
