This was done before using serial numbers. But what the heck. My test casing is dated 5/5/2011. I ordered at my LGS on 4/30/2011, and picked it up two weeks later. It was test fired by Juan Estrada. Wonder if he's related to Erik?
My test fire date is 04/29/2011 by Juan M. Estrada and the ser. number is 670-037XX. I picked it up about the first or second week of May . I just received the Miltch Rosen' 5JR holster for it yesterday from Ruger. It is well made, but it is one tight fitting holster. Have a good day everyone, Gary. :)

Considering the banter from inside the Prescott factory, I'm pleasantly surprised so many very recent new SR9111s are making thier way into the mainstream!

Good for Ruger!

Mine says April 9 2012 sn 670-194** I would think sn would determine age. One person here or on the 1911 forum has 2 sn # 670-006** and 670-006*6, he picked them up last year I got mine 4 weeks ago I have heard that sn are now in the 670-21***. That also tells me there have been 21k + manufactured, which to me means they are putting out about 1600 per month, which I when you cipher that it =s about 21k pistols. I don't know if what i just said makes any since

I had mine on preorder for 7mos and recieved it in December of 2011 and my SN is 670-001XX and its in the low 100's. I am not sure how this is possible but I am not complaining.

'Cause all the earliest serial numbers, probably 670-02000 and earlier, were lasered onto much later produced guns. Ruger has had a tradition of doing this so that all the bugs are worked out (if indeed there are any on a new model) before the earliest numbers are assigned to receivers. It used to be that a buch of gun writers got the lowest serial numbers of newly introduced Ruger models, so Ruger intentionally did not put the earliest serial numbers on until they knew production was running smoothly. That way, they were insured that these writers would get flawless examples, not that all early production wasn't flawless anyway.
