Trigger problem ?

I have a Ruger Mark 2 that does not fire on first first pull but alright after that. The trigger does not engage until I pull it twice. Does anyone know what this problem might be???

Does the trigger have screws in it?


Misadjusted over travel and possibly an aftermarket pre-travel adjustment screw can cause this type of issue.

Probably dirty, take the barrel receiver off the grip frame and clean and lightly lube it. I take the grips off and sray the frame down with degreaser or carb cleaner, blow out and lube sparingly.
also clean the bolt remove firing pin and clean firing pin channel good.

I would suggest you NOT shoot this pistol until it's been fixed. ANY sort of issue such as this can go way wrong w/o notice.

I too would start with a good serious deep cleaning. Several gunsmiths over the years have said that many of the issues they get are directly related to a gun not properly cleaned.

After that,, a polite call to Ruger is in order.
