SR22 racking the slide vs slide release

I know the manual says to rack the slide, but can it hurt to just use the slide release button to chamber the first round? I do that with my XD so I'm kind of use to it. Thanks.

I always try to rack the slide on all my semiautos. I know if you do malfunction drills they tell you to tap and rack the slide and its best to do the same thing everytime.

Do Not use the slide release button on the SR22. It has a steel pin in the slide notch and the steel release button on the steel pin will tear things up quickly.

I use the slide release on my other semis but this one is a no no.

What does the manual say? They usually address things like this. Not too long ago there was a thread about racking the slide aka slingshooting. I posted that they'd better not do that with certain Kahr's! A member didn't believe me and called me on it. Then he read his manual and...
