Don't know. Somebody said in another thread here that it looks like Ruger is or has dropped some prices.

Maybe. MSRP on the 4.25" is still $1249 though, with the only difference I can see being the grip panels ($15 difference?). Maybe it's an introductory price?

Just trying to be sure there's not something missing that I'm not seeing before I order one. Have found absolutely no info on this new model.

Just saw this in the rimfires section from NH Rugerman:

Personally, i think Ruger has boxed themselves in over the last ten years with the Single Six line and frankly, all of their guns, with too many price increases because demand was so strong. I think now they are feeling the pressure of those decisions as they just introduced a $799.99 SR1911 model this week after the original has increased from the original $799.00 list to over $1199.00, the difference in the two models is one has an aluminum frame…vs stainless, and the grip panelsm(G10 vs hardwood), IMHO - NOT a $400.00 difference. (The lightweight model of the commander style gun lists for $50.00 more than the stainless framed gun, but the full size "lightweight" model is $400.00 less?? - what am I missing!)

I built myself a LW-framed 5" 1911 a few years ago, and I can tell you that it's the most unpleasant 1911 I've ever shot. This surprised me because I don't see much difference in recoil between a steel 5" 1911 and a LW Commander, but there's distinctly more recoil in the full-size lightweight. I also built up a short-slide all-steel gun (equivalent of a Combat Commander) and it's the mildest recoiling.

YMMV, of course. ;)

"Cost" does not dictate "price" except at the margin. Prices are set based on what marketing department gurus predict the market will bear (for a given volume of sales). Costs only inform the manufacturer how much profit they will reap from the sales of those marketing-price-set products. So RARELY, if ever, will the cost of a product's features (e.g., a gun) explain the incremental price of that feature-rich product.

Waaaaay too many people wrongfully use "cost" as a synonym for "price", just as they do "revenue" for "income," and "expense" for "liability." And those wrongfully interchanged words most often confuse rather than clarify discussion about an issue.

On the other hand, some words actually ARE essentially synonymous: Liberal, MSM, Socialist and Woke for example. Biden, Brandon and Howdy Doody Dummy as another example.

Happy with today's range trip. Tight groups at point of aim at 10 yards. 80 rounds fired of factory 230 FMJ without a single issue. Recoil was only slightly snappier than my "all steel" models and not really noticeable. Disassembly and clean up revealed no unusual wear thus far. Very happy with this model. Finding prices lower than I paid on-line. Happy to have this Ruger in my collection.

Bill
