Mine is suffering from starvation. Haven't been able to buy practice ammo anywhere around Central Florida. My shot guns are getting fed pretty well though.
Springfield RO, Loaded, Colt Gold Cup, Remington R1Enhanced are better options if going $800 or more. For the $650 range Sr is a lot of pistol. I would most likely not have bought one had Ruger not offered it for $79.00 after not being able to fix my p97. The springer doesn't compare to the Gold Cup I had many years ago, but for the money it is quality.
That is a good deal. I got my first one for $597 I think, but the gunstore was having a big Fathers Day sale, so get there when they open and stand in line.
Story is that the gun I did want was in stock at my LGS and I went in and left a deposit on 2 Ruger mark 3 lights one for my better half and one for me for Xmas. Well the gun store sold them on me even after I had left a 30% deposit till the dear government gave me permission to take it home. Well it took time till I got approval. Went back to the store which is 2 hour away........ got there and Guess what They sold them on me! so after a long talk with the owner he said he would give me the sr1911 at cost and I bought 2..... now she is not into guns which made and has made the process of guns in the house a issue. But now I have to find another Ruger at a decent price.
With 200$ for the course + 800$ membership + the two sr1911 and a safe (bylaw) the cash flow is blown...
I am somewhat new to guns and got the SR1911 about 8 months ago for $650 OTD. I am a total fan of 1911's now and that this gun is not only a fun gun to shoot, but it has taught me so much about shooting. The ease of maintenance and reliability make it a joy. I have learned how to shoot a handgun with this and am proficient at 25 yards, not wasting any rounds. I would love to go the next step up to a more tricked out expensive gun, but I don't really think I'd be gaining any practical use over the SR1911. Other than I just love the feel and function of 1911's now thanks to this gun.
There's an SR1911 sitting in my LGS for $850. Ouch...$200 more than what I paid for mine late last year. I guess that's a good thing. Nothing else in my house holds its' value like that.
Couple SR1911's available in my area. They are at $749 in two different gun stores.
I have had mine for over 2 years and got it for $600. There is a story behind it, but that is posted in a different thread. The short version is, bought mine on the side of the road in a parking lot of a visitor's information center.
