Hello all, I am looking at a MK1 that a friend is selling.
It is a bull barrel and the finish is high polish bright blue.

Did Ruger sell such a thing??

The gun does not look like it's been refinished, no heavy buffing on the stamping.

Thoughts??

I gave my older Son a MK1 5.5" heavy barrel that was in 'as new' condition(and as mentioned beautiful blue finish). He shot it quite a bit but when he commented he was going to carry it on the trapline, I was forced to hand over one of my 22/45 'FrankenRugers' so the MK1 didn't suffer the rigors of such use.

Not in the Mark I. No high polish blue guns.

picture would really help as to just "How high" does one feels its a "high polish"???????
we redid hundreds of them over the years and NEVER "high polished" any, and we had polish out to 1500 grit Jewelers Rouge..... ;)

always preferred 'natural', how they came, not a "high polish " like Fords used to love to do..... If it LOOKS reblued, it probably was......

that was found by a family in the Dads basement, was there for MANY years, when we had the shop, we did guns for insurance company that came out of the Grand River here in Painesville ,tossed there after a gun shop burglary many years ago, and we've redone guns from fires, just part of the job, as well a some for local PDs, till they all got away from revolvers........  ;)
