Deerfield carbine (pros and cons)

this is really interesting. I wold like to get a deerfield 44 - didn't realize there was that much difference between them and the older model. I was considering buyinng the older model but maybe I'll buy the newer deerfield version instead.

If anyone has one for sale reasonably then PM me. where can I buy one for $400 like the Original poster mentioned?

I shot my new to me Deerfield this past Sat. and it shoots great.
I put 3 shots into less than 1" at 100 yards using 24.1gr of H110 and the 240gr Hornady XTP bullet off a foldout table and a rifle rest.
I have a Nikon 3-9x40 Prostaff mounted on it.

I like the older model as well, I'm just leery of something breaking and then having a 6lb paperweight.
