30.06 American casings not ejecting and cartridge not advancing.

Hi all,

I'm having a problem with my 30.06 not advancing cartridges after firing, The next cartridge will get stuck on the magazine and not advance. I'll have to pull the bolt back and try to advance the cartridge multiple times. Also, after firing a round, the casing does not discharge. I have to pull the casing out by hand. Both of these problems are not conducive to hunting. Please help.

The classic thing that will cause that is short stoking the action. Without handling the rifle and seeing the why. It could be mechanical.

Work the action like you're trying to break it and see if it's better. Maybe just put some lube on the contacting surfaces and run the bolt 50 times briskly. The Ruger American is a price point rifle that may have considerable roughness that takes a while to smooth out.
