Ruger Mini-14 Blued Version (NIB 1979)

Moreland, Most of us Mini guys relate to the various series of Minis by their series number. You might want to post which series you have. Ruger's production dates and series numbers are not an exact match. It's just the first three digits, not the entire serial number.

Ruger Mini-14 Blued Version (NIB 1979)

The first three digits of the serial number reveals the exact model/version of Mini that you have. The first Mini's were #180. They are a separate class of Minis. Ruger no longer supports or has parts for this group. The next #181 series incorporates changes made from the first batch. More...

What accurate loads have you shot out of your mini 14 target

Leocoandro is correct; most Mini's are picky about what ammo will shoot the best. And it helps to know what rate of twist your barrel is. My Ranch is a 1 in 7 twist. So my loads may be not so good for a Mini with the 1 in 9 twist barrel. It also helps quite a bit if you're a handloader. This...

What is this on this mini 14?

Could be that the flash hider is silver soldered onto the barrel. That technique is used, on other rifles, to insure that the overall length of the barrel is over 16"

    Mini Stock

I have a Houge overmolded stock fitted to my Mini 14. The following is a description of the trick I used to prevent the receiver from digging into the rubber of the stock. I got a bunch of 3/16" steel dowel pins from the local Ace hardware store. Took the pins and chucked them up in a hand held...

    Question about the Mini 14

Actually, the carbon build up is found on the gas pipe. The gas port is a "bushing" which fits between the barrel and the gas pipe, contained within the gas block assembly. Don't overlook the cleaning the gas pipe end of the slide as well.

    Mini-14 poor grouping

Your expectations are not unrealistic. but it may take a bit of time and brains to get there. If the rifle is brand new, remember that there is a break in time of about 200 rounds. After which, you can then make an examination of the rifle and make up a plan on what it may need in...

    Problem with my Mini-14

A hammer for a Mini can be obtained from Numrich. " http://www.e-parts.com " No secondary sear or trigger is available though. Installing a new hammer into a Mini trigger group is not that difficult. Replacing the old hammer is a good place to start.

Ruger P90 tell me about it

gb6491; The P90 looks good with the new grips and the blacken frame; how did you do it? Where did you find those grips? I'd like to find a set for my P90.

Probably beaten to death: Who to accurize Ruger ranch rifle,

I went through the same experience that Goredsox had. Started with 4"+ groups, then tried several different bullets weights. Ended up liking the Sierra Matchking hpbt in 77gr. When using these handloads my groups are a consistent 1-1/2" @ 100 yards. Of course, I did make changes and...

Mini 14 For When The SHTF

In a SHTF environment whatever rifle you choose will need to be fed ammo. There's likely to be a whole lot more .223/5.56 ammo here than 7.62x39. For my needs a Mini is the rifle that I have ready to go. In my opinion it will do very nicely.

Barrel twist on 187 prefix mini/ranch?

My Mini 14 Ranch S/S is a #188 series. Has a barrel twist of 1 in 7. More info may be found at the Perfect Union.com site, in the Mini section. Also can go to the Ruger factory site. My Ranch does its best using a 69gr or 77gr bullet.

Problematic Mini 14 I once owned.

"Was this somewhat common?" IMO; no. It's a problem that is not seen very often. Too bad Ruger C/S didn't perform better back then. Could have been that one of the internal parts was reversed in position (buffer guide rod). But Ruger should have corrected that easily. It could of been a...

    mini 14/30 barrels....

I'm not certain about the new breed of Mini's, but I have some experience with an older Ranch. Mine is a #188 series in S/S. When new, in 1993, it was only so-so in accuracy. Last year I decided to address the issue. I've been able to re-work the action and make improvements to the point that...

    Ridiculous mini-30 Accuracy Issues

All of the above, and try the simple. A good cleaning, check the barrel for copper fouling, then some lube, a few rounds of better ammo. Then, if you don't see an improvement, a call to Ruger c/s for advise. It sounds like the rifle has been sitting for awhile.
