    SR1911 10mm Failure...And The Final Update

Regarding stress on 1911 guns and the 10mm, Bill Wilson of Wilson Combat wrote in 2016 "...heaven forbid 10mm...." The 10mm is a very stressful cartridge and when Colt introduced it in its 1911, exceedingly heavy springs were incorporated and I remember one Colt executive being very iffy as to...

Thinking about a Colt series 70.... Thoughts?

Dakota, you're right about the E Series. I misspoke. :(

    skeletonized trigger, yea or nea?

Tsk, tsk, tsk! This is probably the most important question and poll ever posted and you can't sit on the fence, straddle the line, pee in both pots, run forward and backwards, jump one-legged with either leg, say you like both dark and light chicken meat, split your vote Republican and...

Thinking about a Colt series 70.... Thoughts?

Dakota, Yes, the Remy has a Colt Series 80 type firing pin safety, but so does Smith & Wesson and Sig. The original Smith 1911s had a variation of the Swartz system which Kimber has but in their "E" Series they went Series 80. Regarding pricing, the Remy R1 plain jane goes for around $650...

Thinking about a Colt series 70.... Thoughts?

Well, I like the Carry a lot or I wouldn't have recommended it. The plain R1 and the orphan stepchild, the Enhanced, are also nice. I'm sure you may get some negative comments, i.e., the cast frame, but supposedly the Carry frames are machined (which may mean and I'm not sure a step above...

Thinking about a Colt series 70.... Thoughts?

George, I forgot to mention that the Remington Carry rear sight is the Novak style, and yes it has a flat MSH along with the ambi safety, etc., etc. as described in my first posting. Another feature of the Remington is that the slide and frame are "melted," no sharp edged anywhere at all. You...

    Llama 9mm

My understanding from gun store owners and those who have been around them, i.e. smiths, is that their steel was a patented formula made from Land O Lakes butter, Skippy peanut butter and Quaker Oats oat meal and Elmer's Glue. I don't believe it but...... 8) After he shoots it for a...

Thinking about a Colt series 70.... Thoughts?

Check out the Remington R1s Carry and Carry Commander: 4.5 pound or less trigger, front night sight, checkered front and rear straps, beavertail, opened ejection port, smooth-smooth-operations such as slide action (like going on butter), ambi safety, very nice stylized grips, and they...

    SR1911 & SR1911 CMD Prices

During the summer prices were closer to $700 or more mark in my area, north Georgia. Now they seem to be $650 at my LGSs. And hooray for a dedicated thread site for the SR1911; just returned after being gone since Oct. 4.
