"BTW, anyone observed the cost of and seemingly difficult to find 308 ammo? "
Just as a sidelight, I never had trouble getting 6.8 SPC rounds for my Mini-14.
Thanks, Ruger1963. $400 is less than I paid for it some years ago as a complement to my PC9. Used a Colt LWC then and now Colt 'out', SR9 'in.' Guess I'll leave it in the safe for some more years.
BTW, what is a good selling price for a NIB KP89 with manual safety. Recently there were a couple of posts that said, in effect, 'a lot of them are in safes' and '$400'... Is that about the situation?
Thanks.
Tom
I just did a caliber search for the 6.8 SPC on Ruger's web site and the only thing that popped up was the 'black rifle' upper. JMO, but if this is true, I'm really ticked off with Ruger. I can think of a few calibers that SHOULD be dropped instead.
P.S. Maybe I should change my name to...
Buckeye Bill: "I think that Remington 6.8 SPC would be a good fit for the rifle."
and
44thumper: "I second the 6.8 for the GSR. When can I place my order?"

Hi All,
Just got my SR-9 with the 331-x serial number and D-shaped mag release and saw the posts re hard handloading of the magazines.
Now I'm a pretty big guy, but I can't believe how hard it was to load even a couple of cartridges by hand into the magazine. My first thought was I might...
I've got a KP-89 and a 'retired' Colt 9mm CLW Commander, but I've been itching to 'pull the trigger' (pun intended) on a new SR-9 but have been held back by the trigger, peening, cracking,... problems as posted here. Seeing alternating posts about "great" and "problematic" SR-9s, I was thinking...
A home 'go-to' gun right NOW?
Well, this being a Ruger board, umm...err...ahh...a 9mm Colt CLW Lightweight Commander.
BUT I'll be selling it for a 9mm SP-101 or SR-9 once Ruger begins
making the 9mm SP-101 again or sorts out the SR-9's problems. :-)
P.S I do have an '89. but I consider that...
Hmmm...
It sounds like you're certainly prepared for, say, a SHTF scenario, but I think you've really got your work cut out for you in the event of a WHTC (1) scenario.
Good Luck! LOL

Hi All (and Moderator!),
Please allow me to try to interject a little humor in the otherwise very serious topic of black bear bluff/charge defenses.
As "BearBio" aptly put it:
"All of the [bear] charges described here (and the one I was involved in, along with at least two threat...
Hi Beachbum,
This has always been a popular forum topic:
"I will be hiking/backpacking/camping/hunting... in Arizona/Montana/Alaska/... where there are black/brown/grizzly bears, cougar, moose,.... What kind of kit/camp/backup/last-ditch gun would be best?"
First
Many thanks for your work...
About 2 years ago I bought this "Hollywood Western" rig (in black) from Mernickle of NV for one of my 45LC New Vaqueros and am thoroughly pleased with the product and price

You'll see they also have more traditional Cowboy rigs.
