Converting Flattop Blackhawk stainless to Bisley

I too have made this conversion. Bisley parts are available from Midway USA.

    Big Bore GP100

I'd wager the reason for the non fluted cylinder is nothing more than economics. Fluting a cylinder is another process and expense in its manufacture.

Best Scope for my New Takedown?

I was concerned about repeatable zero on a take apart rifle with a receiver mounted optic, so I opted for a skinner sight. It is a barrel mounted peep sight. Very compact set up and maintains zero as both front and rear sight are mounted on the barrel.

    Blue Bisley hammer and trigger

I believe it was in 2013. I have a blued hammer gun with a fired case date of June 22, 2010, and a stainless hammer gun with a fired case date of October 17, 2014. Both have blued triggers.

    Ruger no.1 7x57 chamber??

I suspect it is a parts clean up build after the Cabela's 50th anniversary 7x57s.

If you've got a pair, show um !!

Two pair? With apologies for the non-Rugers. All .44 S&W special cartridge.

    Ruger no.1 7x57 chamber??

I found my No.1 7x57 has a long throat, as well as 8 3/4" twist. Serial number dates it to 2011.

Bear protection. Let's stir the pot.

According to this writer we stand a better chance with bear spray. "For bear country you would want a deep penetration round in a minimum of 357 Magnum, 10mm, 41 Magnum, but preferably 44 Magnum, 454 Casull, 460, 480 Ruger, 500SW. We also want the heaviest and fastest hard cast round we can...

Kit Gun - Bearcat Shopkeeper vs. S&W 63

My rugged, but clunky kit gun is the single six stainless 4 5/8". Got tired of waiting for an adjustable sight bearcat. Twelve years later Ruger finally has them out.

Bear protection. Let's stir the pot.

Yep..that is it. The Lipsey's exclusive Ruger super blackhawk 3-3/4" 44 magnum. AKA: "Bisley Alaskan" I sure like the look of it. I get all drooly everytime I see one. I'd round butt the grip and install a lanyard ring. Be a dandy to have on the hip when in the creek "waving a stick". Wish...

Bear protection. Let's stir the pot.

Craig C, That is a downright practical looking 44 mag. I love the Lanyard ring. I wouldn't doubt lipsey's copied it somewhat for their "Bisley Alaskan".

Bear protection. Let's stir the pot.

Ok, I'll play along. I choose the 44mag Alaskan for this exercise. In reality I choose the 4 5/8" 44 special flat top with a "Skelton" load 95% of the time I am in the field. If I think I need more than the 44 special offers, I want more than the 44 magnum delivers. I go with the 45 colt...

would you rather 240gr at 700fps or 120gr at 1400fps?

Way back when uniformed police carried 4" 357 mag revolvers, the 125gr jhp had a reputation as a 98% one shot stopper in urban police shoots. The "magic bullet" of the era was Federal's "Hydra- shok". The new 44 special load was a 200 grain silvertip by Winchester. It was rated as a 77% one...

    Lipsey's .44 Spec'l Serial Number Help Requested.

I read on the forum that it is believed they started at 520-16831. If I remember the first 2000 were first run Lipsey's exclusives. Mine are 520-1683x, and 520-1684x. The stainless are indeed Talo exclusives, 4 5/8" barrel only...

    LCRx with 3-inch Barrel

I’m of the opinion that a 3” adjustable sight .38 special is a great idea. I find myself shooting more .38 special than .22LR these days, as I refuse to pay scalper prices for 22LR. I can hand load .38 special for less than the $5.00 for a 50 count box that the scalpers are getting for .22LR...
