PC9 - what to be aware of?

Maybe a little heavier. You just have to feel it. The first time I pulled the trigger on mine, I stopped to turn the safety off... it was already off! Really, it's not too bad. You get used to it once the fun starts. Like a 10/22 on steroids. Cage 8)

PC9 - what to be aware of?

You can pretty much run any factory produced ammo through it without problems. I haven't had any problems with mine. There is no easy fix for the heavy trigger pull. It was intended that way. If you try and fix it, you will muck it up. Cage 8)

First post, first Mark II purchase: help please?

I think you did good, considering today's gun market. You'll find even the sort barrel fixed sight version to be very accurate. I prefer the MKII over the MKIII. No internal lock, mag safety or loaded chamber indicator. You'll also find they can be quite tricky to disassemble and reassemble...

    Mini-14

The 180 prefix has an early style external bolt hold-open system and a roller on the bolt cam track lug. The 181 and later prefixes use an internal bolt hold-open system and eliminated the roller on the bolt lug. Cage 8)

    My PC9 and the pumpkin

I'm thinking he intends to cut the barrel right behind the front sight and thread the new end of the barrel. Cage 8)

    My PC9 and the pumpkin

Short Barrel Rifle - any firearm that was originally a rifle but with the barrel shortened to less than 16". The Ruger Charger is a 10/22 with a barrel way shorter than 16" but it is sold as a pistol. It would be illegal to shorten a 10/22 barrel, or for that matter, a PC9 barrel, to less...

How do I post pics here?

You need to upload your pics to a photo hosting website, like PhotoBucket. It's free, you just have to register. Then link to them using the format. I use PhotoBucket. It will put the image tags in for you; you just paste it into your thread. Cage 8)

    SR22 Might be crazy but...

Is it metal or polymer? If it's metal, you could try some cold blue on it. If it's polymer, and you can remove the part, a soak in black RIT clothing dye may blacken it. I have used this for dying plastic parts before. Cage 8)

    SR22 Might be crazy but...

I was thinking the same thing. Ruger uses an anodizing process on some of their alloys that, over time, turns to a deep plum color. Some people like it, but I don't find it particularly attractive. Cage 8)

Here's the image, for those that don't want to open another window. Looks pretty red Cage 8)

    Old Army - any tips?

Only if they can bring William B. Ruger back... He once said they would continue to produce the Old Army as long as he was alive. Cage 8)

    Ruger PC9 "Police Carbine" Marked

All of the PC9 serial numbers mentioned in your reference would be from 1996, the first year of production. Beginning serial number for 1997 would be 470-04391. I believe the referenced PC4 serial numbers should be 480-, not 470-. First produced in 1997, beginning SN for 1998 was 480-05146...

"no grease unless the balls ar(e) not shaving" Something I thought I'd never read on Ruger Forum.  Cage 8)

    Old Army - any tips?

Not exactly right. 777can be used/loaded/compressed just like BP. It does have about 15% more bang than BP per unit volume. Should be using .457 balls. Another thing not mentioned above is a powder measure. The more evenly you measure the loads, the more consistant the accuracy. You...
